The Dance Circuit
You know it's been a while since you posted when you can't even remember your password to get on your blog, ha! Several trial-and-errors later, I'm in. Whew! We've had an eventful couple of months around here so brace yourself for a few catch-up posts--just a word of warning to all three of you who still read this :).
Maddy's school year and high school career wrapped up in November/December with a series of events ranging from nerve-wracking and stressful (I'm looking at you, IB final exams) to carefree and celebratory (everything else).
Maddy's school (Canberra Girls Grammar) and its brother school (Canberra Grammar) each hold their own Year 12 formal dances within days of each other. You might argue that it would be easier to just combine them into one but they're having none of that. So two dresses, two red carpet entrances, two late night celebrations it is! Most of the time (but not always) the same couples attend each other's dance, reciprocating the invitation to each other.
The Girls Grammar Dance was first, with the pre-dance party at Maddy's friend Phyllida's house and the dance at Old Parliament House:
The boys' dance was two nights later, also at Old Parliament House. It was Thanksgiving for us (and we were happily hosting some families at our house) but it was a regular old day for everyone else. Angus arrived to pick up Maddy after turkey and before pie:
Maddy found both of her dresses online at Fame & Partners, which gave her the option to customize the dresses to her liking (for example, the black one had a shorter under skirt but M wanted a full skirt and they easily made the change for her).
