Early today my mom sent me this clip of Stephen Colbert's tribute to his mom that he gave at the top of his show last night, the first night back at work after her death:
Stephen Colbert, you did your mama proud.
It made me a little curious so I did a little internetting and was reminded that her husband James and two of her sons were killed in 1974, when Stephen was 10 years old. Can you even imagine? Raising 9 children solo?
Also? I hope my kids remember me as fun. And someone who loved life with gratitude and without bitterness. That they were the light of my life and I let them know it until the end.
